De Akari-lampen zijn handgemaakt van doorschijnend washi-papier dat is gemaakt van de binnenbast van de moerbeiboom. De ontwerper heeft het licht van Akari vergeleken met zonlicht dat door traditionele papieren deuren wordt gefilterd. De lichtsculpturen creëren een warme gloed en een aangename sfeer.
