Net als een partituur waarin elke noot op een vloeiende en samenhangende manier wordt gespeeld, vertegenwoordigt het Legato-verlichtingssysteem de notenbalk waarin de noten, in de vorm van kegels, zo zijn georganiseerd dat ze verschillende melodieën componeren. Elke lamp is verankerd op een stijve ijzeren structuur met meerdere lagen, waarbij elke laag een individuele module is die verschillende combinaties mogelijk maakt. De dubbele richting van de lichtbronnen creëert een spel van reflecties en schaduwen tussen de kegels, waardoor de volumes worden benadrukt.
