El aplique de pared Ball está diseñado con una bisagra giratoria y un cable enchufable ajustable, lo que permite un fácil movimiento de la pantalla sin reajustarla en la pared. En 1952, se introdujo en el mercado estadounidense un conjunto de lámparas colgantes suecas y George Nelson quedó lo suficientemente impresionado como para querer una para su oficina. Su elevado precio le impidió comprar uno, pero también le inspiró a diseñar el suyo propio. El resultado fue una serie de lámparas con formas elementales y esféricas como una manzana redondeada, un cigarro alargado y una pera bien torneada, entre otras.
