Optisch ist die High Line eine Lichtskulptur, eine schlanke Linie, die Licht abgibt, ohne dessen Quelle preiszugeben. Die Stehleuchte erzeugt Licht indirekt durch Reflexion, und einzigartig ist, dass das Licht nicht von der Decke, sondern von der Wand reflektiert wird. Der Designer legt Wert darauf, dass die Wand das ausgestrahlte Licht reflektiert. Die Wand ist der größte Verbündete dieser Leuchte, und sie möchte ihr nahe bleiben.
Formal handelt es sich um eine Komposition aus Volumen und Farben. Drei Blöcke, die sich durch ihre Formen und Farbtöne auszeichnen: Das vertikale, lichttragende Element aus Eiche oder Wenge ist an einem lackierten Holzblock befestigt. Beide erheben sich über dem schwarzen Sockel, der den optimalen Abstand zur Wand definiert, um eine ideale Lichtquelle zu erzeugen. Die Strenge der Formen kontrastiert mit der Wärme des Holzes und der Tiefe der Farben.
