Die Inspiration für das Design der Washi-Tischleuchten stammt von einem Besuch im japanischen Fischerdorf Gifu, wo er den Fischern bei der Arbeit zusah. Die Menschen nutzen nicht nur dressierte Kormorane für die Jagd, sondern auch Laternen, um Fische anzulocken. Die Tischleuchte besteht aus Bambus, der mit feinem Papier bespannt ist. Für die Washi-Tischleuchte verwendet der Designer Papier vom Maulbeerbaum, da es das Licht weicher, sanfter und gleichmäßiger macht.
